Overview

The Target Switch System is a special device that allows for the transfer of radioactive fluids from one or two cyclotron targets to up to ten different destinations.

Thanks to this system, the operator is able to identify the path of the fluid through a specialized software that can easily be installed on different computers connected to the device.

Alternatively, the path can also be set manually through a special interface located on the electronic board’s panel, thus avoiding the use of software and the LAN-network.

Thanks to Itel’s highly skilled personnel, the company has developed, throughout its optimization process of 18F-FDG, a more flexible and effective Cyclotron Target Switch (TS1000).

The TS1000 has the following characteristics:

  • It is equipped with state-of-the-art multi-way valves, which allow for the transfer of fluids from multiple sources (one or more cyclotrons) to multiple destinations (up to 12 Hot Cells) according to the operator’s schedule;

  • It provides a simple, stable and user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI);

  • It allows saving on the dead volumes of the old valves, thus optimizing the yield;

  • It can be interfaced with all types of commercial cyclotrons;

  • It enables the automation of the regular “cleaning” process of the transfer lines;

  • It streamlines regular maintenance activities.

The TS1000 system also includes the study of the site layout as well as the installation by ITEL’s technicians, who will also care for TS1000 programming according to the customer’s specific needs.

The system consists of the following components:

Switchboard
which includes hot cells connections, actuator, LAN-network and power supply.

Actuator
which is directly connected to the switchboard, the transfer lines and the compressed air circuit.

Software
to control the system.

System types

We offer two different system types:

  • Without redundancy
    This system ensures the connection between one cyclotron target and one destination.
  • With redundancy
    Every item of the system is doubled, thus allowing for the creation of two different paths between every source and every destination. This will also increase the reliability of the system in the event of failures.

According to the system type and the number of cyclotrons available, the following configurations can be set up:

1 cyclotron , 1 Target Switch System (without redundancy)

2 cyclotrons, 1 Target Switch Systems (without redundancy)

1 cyclotron, 2 Target Switch System (with redundancy)

2 cyclotrons, 2 Target Switch Systems (with redundancy)
